UPDATE 5/21/2025 ️❤️
With the heaviest hearts, we’re sharing the unimaginable news that our beloved Papa, David Luman, passed away unexpectedly on May 21st.
He had been in the hospital for 11 days recovering from a serious bike accident that left him with a fractured hip and broken shoulder. His spirit remained strong, and we were on our way for his transition to a rehab facility where he could begin the next stage of healing. But on the day he was meant to be discharged, Papa fell while returning from the bathroom. We don’t have all the details yet, he passed during the fall or shortly after.
It has all happened so suddenly. We are in shock, heartbroken, and still trying to process the loss of the pillar of our family—a man full of unwavering strength, love, and steady presence. He was 76 and still so full of life and a desire to keep going. He lived with purpose, faith and loved with his whole heart.
We are now navigating the unexpected costs of funeral and memorial arrangements, medical bills and the ongoing needs of our Nana, who lost not only her partner of over 50 years, but her home’s provider, financial security and constant companion.
If you feel moved to contribute, share, or hold our family in your thoughts—we are endlessly grateful. Your support has already given us so much comfort and breathing room during this incredibly difficult time.
Thank you for seeing us, holding us, and honoring the legacy of a truly remarkable man.
With love and grief,
Courtney & The Luman Family

Hi, my name is Courtney, and I’m fundraising for two of the most selfless and hardworking people I know — my Nana and Papa, Trish & David Luman.
They are both in their 70s and still working full-time to support not only themselves but also other family members who continue to rely on them. They’ve always shown up for everyone else, no matter what. Now, they’re facing an incredibly hard year and I want to do whatever I can to help ease their burden.
Last year, my Nana had a bad fall and just recently underwent surgery. She’s been off work recovering and trying to heal. And now, my Papa — the strong, active rock of our family — had a serious bike accident. He broke his hip and shoulder and had to undergo major surgery. He’ll need weeks in a rehab facility and will be unable to work or drive for at least 6 months to a year.
My Papa is the primary provider in their home. He’s someone who bikes 100 miles a week, loves helping others, and never slows down to rest, until now. This accident has been a massive shock to all of us and has left them facing a mountain of medical bills and financial uncertainty.
They are the kind of people who would give you the shirt off their back without thinking twice. But right now, they need time, space, and financial support to heal without the added stress of wondering how they’ll make ends meet.
If you feel moved to contribute, every bit helps. All donations will go directly to medical expenses, rehab costs, and essential living expenses while my Papa recovers for the next 6 months.
Thank you so much for reading, for caring, and for holding my family in your heart during this incredibly difficult time. We’re just hoping to help them breathe a little easier… and to get my Papa back on his bike one day.
With love and gratitude,
Courtney
